Welcome to Kiribati, Lydia! 

Please join us in welcoming Lydia, an Australian Volunteer who has joined the Coastal Fisheries Department in Kiritimati for the next 12 months.

Lydia holds a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science from the University of Tasmania and is passionate about sustainable fisheries management. While in Kiribati, she will also be undertaking a Master’s in Fisheries Policy at the University of Wollongong.

Lydia is looking forward to sharing her knowledge, learning from the Coastal Fisheries team, and contributing to sustainable fisheries management in Kiribati. She also hopes to learn more about the local community, culture and way of life.

She has expressed her appreciation for the warm Kiribati hospitality and is excited to spend the next year in Kiritimati.
