"No man is an island": a timeless reminder that no individual, institution, or Ministry can operate in complete isolation. We are all inherently connected, and our strength lies in our collaboration. Today, 12th October 2026, this principle took tangible form between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy (MISE) and the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR) through the signing of the "Instrument of Delegation": a legal document formally transferring authority from MFOR to MISE to carry out duties including bunkering license issuance and other bunkering operations for fishing vessels. This milestone is the culmination of ongoing negotiations and consultations between the two parties (MISE (KOIL) and MFOR) aimed at delivering greater benefits to the people of Kiribati; including leveraging foreign direct investment through KOIL, maximizing Government revenue from bunkering services under KOIL's direct management, and ultimately securing a more reliable fuel supply for our nation. The MFOR extends its sincere appreciation to KOIL, MISE, and all partners for their invaluable contributions to the successful transition of this project from MFOR to MISE. MFOR congratulates MISE and KOIL for this new mandate and important responsibility for Kiribati.
