The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR), through its Geoscience Division, with support from the National Statistics Office (MFED), successfully conducted a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) training workshop for the Ara Marawa Coordinating Committee (AMCC) on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at the KIFL Boardroom in Ambo.
A key outcome of the workshop was strengthening participants’ understanding of how to translate the eight Strategic Priorities of Ara Marawa Policy into measurable, sector-specific activities. Participants received practical guidance on developing indicators and targets, establishing reporting arrangements, and linking planned activities to expected results. Through group exercises and discussions, participants identified sub-activities under relevant strategic actions and proposed indicators to measure implementation progress.
These outputs will inform the ongoing development of the Ara Marawa Policy Implementation Plan, supporting sectors to monitor progress, identify implementation gaps, and support evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
The workshop marks an important step towards strengthening inter-ministerial coordination and establishing clearer monitoring and reporting responsibilities to ensure that Ara Marawa’s strategic priorities lead to tangible actions and meaningful outcomes for Kiribati.
MFOR extends its sincere appreciation to all AMCC members for their active participation and support, with special thanks to the National Statistics Office team for facilitating and delivering this important training.
