The two-day review of the Carrier and Tanker vessel licensing frameworks concluded today, 25th July 2026, at Te Tie Resort in Notoue, North Tarawa.

The retreat brought together representatives from key Government Ministries and agencies, including the Oceanic Fisheries Division (MFOR), Customs (MFED), Police Maritime Unit & National Intelligence Unit (KPS), Marine Division (MICT), Immigration(MFAI), Biosecurity (MELAD) and the Office of the Attorney General

Discussions focused on identifying gaps within the current licensing frameworks and updating them to ensure full alignment with national laws, as well as compliance with regional and international fisheries requirements.

Sincere appreciation goes to all stakeholders for their active participation, expertise and valuable contributions throughout the two-day review.
