The MCSE Unit under the Coastal Fisheries Division conducted a two-week in-house training from 18th to 28th August 2016 at the Coastal Boardroom in Ambo for observers who will assist with MCSE activities while awaiting their deployments on foreign fishing vessels. The training aimed to equip observers with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct inspections and support the enforcement of fisheries regulations. Through a combination of classroom sessions and practical exercises, participants gained a better understanding of inspection procedures, regulatory requirements, and enforcement responsibilities. This initiative also strengthens the Division's enforcement capacity by expanding the pool of personnel available to support monitoring, control, surveillance, and enforcement activities, thereby enhancing compliance with fisheries laws and regulations.
Acknowledgement to Tobwan Waara III and R2R Projects for their kind support to this initiative.
