The Pacific Community (SPC) in coordination with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), officially convened the T-CLAW training program from 31 August to 5 September 2026 in the Federated States of Micronesia. The primary objective of this initiative was to establish and build regional capacity for analysing critical data regarding the impacts of climate change on fisheries.
Over the course of the intensive learning schedule, participants executed data modelling exercises utilizing two primary environmental platforms: Copernicus and the Climate Dashboard. These specific models serve as the technical baseline for regional data analysis, enabling authorities to measure environmental degradation, track oceanographic shifts, and evaluate regional progress and vulnerabilities regarding global climate change.
The training program concluded with an official closing ceremony hosted at the SPC Regional Office in Pohnpei on the 5th September 2026 in FSM. Following the closing remarks, official certification of completion was distributed to participants representing the Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Naoero, Palau, and Papua New Guinea
