Kiribati Joins Regional Push for Sustainable Blue Economy in Auckland Workshop
The Waves of Change : Advancing the Blue Economy across Asia and the Pacific Workshop has brought together officials across the region to discuss the agenda on blue economy. The workshop held from the 26th -29th August,2025 in Auckland, New Zealand has provided in-depth discussions of key issues, challenges, and opportunities to explore possible pathways to advance the blue economy agenda.
The workshop was organized by ADB to support regional technical collaborations that will inform the design and implementation of sustainable ocean-based projects aligning to the wider ADB Ocean Framework in achieving a heathy ocean and sustainable blue economies. The Government of Kiribati also participated at the dialogue, with representation from the key sectors Finance, Fisheries, Communication, Internal Affairs and the Environment Conservation. Words of gratitude to the organizers team from ADB for the opportunity for Kiribati to join this first sub-regional dialogue with future collaborations underway on potential pilot projects in advancing the blue economy in Kiribati.
