KMSPCC Leads People-Centered MSP Mission in Tamana
A dedicated team from the Kiribati Marine Spatial Planning Coordinating Committee (KMSPCC), chaired and coordinated by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR), has successfully completed its second people-centered island-level Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) mission on Tamana Island.
From 27 August to 03 September 2025, community consultations and collaborative planning took place and led by KMSPCC members from MFOR, CMD, ECD & LMD, resulting in a shared vision:
“To sustainably manage our ocean, safeguarding resources, livelihoods, and cultural heritage, and fostering harmonious uses that benefit future generations.”
This milestone was made possible with the valued funding support of the Pacific Regional Oceanscape Program (PROP), ensuring that the people and the ocean of Tamana continue to thrive together in balance.
