15 Tons of Dried Seaweeds from Abaiang Island Ready for Export

15 tons of dried seaweed have been produced from Abaiang Island during the first weigh conducted from 02/07/24 - 06/07/24. Out of the 15 tons of seaweed, 14.6 tons were from Nuotaea islet. These dried seaweeds will be sold to available companies for export. Special thanks to #MFAT for funding this program under the project KSCFP (Kiribati Sustainable Coastal Fisheries Programme).

Leave NO pending task

“Leave no pending task, just do it” and “You should know what in your store for you, to determine where you should go next”, were two key messages conveyed by Chairman Kautoa Tonganibeia and Secretary Riibeta Abeta in their remarks for the MFMRD Division Performance Assessment for 2024, held today at the Tienarere maneaba in Bairiki.
All 6 Divisions of the MFMRD were successfully reviewed and assessed for their half-yearly performance and key highlights in today’s event. The assessment is an opportunity to listen to each other, learn from each other and empower each other, as civil servants, and as one family of the MFMRD.
Secretary to Public Service Office Ms Ritite Tekiau awarded the Best performed division, Best innovative solution and Best dressed staff (male and women) at the successful closure of today’s event.
The team acknowledged all judges, directors and all esteemed staff of the MFMRD for their efforts and performance during this half year 2024.
The Minister and Secretary wishes all staff, a happy 45th Independence celebration.

The major clean-up has been completed

Have you been to Te Ananau causeway lately? Collaborative efforts are in progress there. The major cleanup has been completed. Now, the next phase of this activity, which is landscaping, will begin after Independence Day. So, joining hands together is always welcome

5th Clean-up campaign

The MFMRD staff successfully carried out the 5th Clean-up Campaign on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, replacing their usual weekly sporting event. Following previous cleanups from Tanobakoa Cleanup Campaign, our MFMRD team are making really good progress and making a significant difference in its appearance. Huge thanks to all the staff for their enthusiastic participation and hard work. Your efforts are truly making a positive impact, and the changes in the area are already taking shape. Let's continue this momentum and strive for an even cleaner and more beautiful environment in the future. Your commitment is greatly appreciated! We extend our gratitude also to all our stakeholders for their continuing support in our previous cleanups as the area is taking a new look. Join us again in the next cleanup.
